Project Accountant

Description

VPAC Construction is hiring a  Project Accountant to support the Finance and Accounting team at our head office in downtown Vancouver, BC. We are looking for an individual who possesses some knowledge and experience in a construction or high-volume accounting dept.

About the Job:
  • Process project accounts receivable and overall project costings, including:
  • Reviewing commitments against budget prior to sending to trades;
  • Assist review of trade invoicing for proper cost coding
  • Prepare billings and backup documentation;
  • Update project costs to the project management software after approval; and
  • Assist the project team in coordinating revisions and communications with trades
  • Update invoice and payments status in the project management software
  • Review change orders for accuracy and update financial system accordingly
  • Effectively communicate with Project Managers regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals and any additional services related to billing and payables.
  • Ensure that month end deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies and issues with Project Managers.
  • Follow up on payment certifications.
  • File and manage project records.
  • Provide assistance with the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and annual budget if required.
  • Assist/support the accounting team as needed, along with ad-hoc requests and projects as assigned.

About You:
  • 1-3 years experience as a Project Accountant in the construction industry
  • Accounting Diploma a strong asset
  • Sage 100 experience a strong asset
  • Proven track record of maintaining a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering data
  • Ability to work independently in high volume environment to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong computer skills – Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Highly organized and proven ability to multi-task in a deadline driven environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Adoption of new technology an asset

Compensation

$65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
